Sarah Koenig is arguably one of the most important people involved with the case. It could be argued that all media is part of the case. However Koenig brought Syed's story to This American Life and made it into Serial. She is responsible for bringing it to the public. The way she presents the information she gathers could sway the public one way or another.
In true form, Koenig prefers to put her stories in the spotlight rather than herself so information on her was difficult to find. The following is information from her WikiPedia page. |
Koenig graduated from the University of Chicago in 1990 and later began working as a reporter at The East Hampton Star.[6] Then she worked in Russia as a reporter for ABC News and later for The New York Times.[7] She covered the State House (politics) for the Concord Monitor and later for the Baltimore Sun.
She began working as a producer for This American Life in January 2004.[7] She co-produced the 2006 Peabody award winning episode of This American Life entitled "Habeas Schmabeas."[8]
In 2013, she began work on a spinoff podcast of the This American Life radio program entitled Serial. It debuted in October 2014 and was the number one podcast on iTunes when it was released.[9]
TIME magazine named Koenig one of "The 100 Most Influential People" on April 16, 2015.[10]
